Domain FAQ |
|
|
 |
| Q. | How do I know which domain name is taken up? | | A. | You can perform a whois lookup. A whois lookup service is provided here. | | Q. | If the domain name I wish to register for is taken, what can I do? | | A. | Domain names are registered on a first come first served basis. If the domain name you want is taken, it is no longer available, unless the current registrant terminates the service and frees up the domain name. You may register for an alternative domain name in the meantime. | | Q. | Who is your premiere domain name provider? | | A. | WebNic.cc (Web Commerce Communications Limited). WEBCC is the first Asian company to focus on wholesale and outsourced domain name registrations for generic and country code top-level domains (TLDs) such as .com/.net/.org/.biz/.info and .cc. | | Q. | Can I transfer the domain to your company? | | A. | Yes you can. As the matter a fact we are experienced with the domain transfer. Click here to read the domain transfer successful story. | | Q. | How long does it takes to get a domain transfer done? | | A. | Usually it can be done within 3 days provided you have all the complete information of domain name such as its main provider, login url, username and password. You must also know who is your domain reseller. You will get the domain login information that sent to the email that you used to register the domain by your domain reseller / provider. Just forward us that information. | | Q | Do I have to be the domain owner in order to perform the domain transfer? | | A. | You must be the legal owner of the domain name that you wish to transfer. And you must have the login access to the email that you use it when you register the domain, because the domain transfer authorization email will be sent to the domain administrator email (the email that you use when you register the domain) and you have to reply accordingly. So you have to make sure that administrator email address is still active and accessible. You can also represent your company to do the domain transfer. For example if you are a staff in your company that responsible for the domain transfer task, but the domain is not register under your name and your email, but registered under the other staff in your company, you can still handle the domain transfer as long as your company is well noticed and adware of it and you have the email login to the domain's administrator email address. | | Q. | Last time I let a domain reseller to register for my domain name, now I want to transfer my domain name, but how if my domain reseller don't want to release it? | | A. | If you are the legal owner of the domain name, you can issue an order or even letter to the reseller to instruct them to release domain. You have the legal right to determine to transfer domain or hosting to anyone. There are two common cases you will find in domain name dispute in hosting industry, that is (1) the owner asks the domain provider to release but is refused (2) the domain provider registers the domain with his own info. In latter case there is no legal ground for customer to demand release of domain. Please note that domain provider is different than domain reseller. A domain provider is for example like Webnic.cc and a domain reseller is for example like the one that help you register the domain name last time. | | Q. | How much does it costs if I want to transfer the domain name to your company? | | A. | The cost will be charged accordingly to the domain price, please click here to check. This is actually the renewal fee, we help you to transfer and renew it for another year, for example your domain name will be expired on 27-Nov-2020 so after the transfer is completed, your domain name will be expired on 27-Nov-2021. | | Q. | Do I have any control panel to login and manage the domain name? | | A. | Yes, example of domain name control panel please click here. You can login to manage your domain information, modify the whois information, add or modify nameserver information and change password. | | Q. | How long can I keep the domain name? | | A. | You may keep the domain name as long as you have paid the domain fees and fulfill the terms and conditions imposed by 1StopWeb800.com for these services. | | Q. | Can I register a .com / .net / .org type of domain name? | | A. | Yes, you can. | | Q. | Can I register a .com.my domain name? | | A. | Only registered company or organization in Malaysia can register for a .com.my domain name. If you just registered for a .com.my domain name, documentary verification will be carried out since only registered companies and organizations in Malaysia can register .my domain names. Please follow these steps accordingly. - Please check your email for a confirmation form. Its subject title reads like "Confirmation Form to register xxx.com.my".
- Please print out that form, put down your signature and company stamp.
- Please prepare your Form 24 and 49 (for limited company) or Form D (for sole proprietorship and partnership).

Email FAQ |

|
 |
| Q. | I do not use email, can I add the email space to my web space (eg for a total of 60MB on Standard Plan)? | | A. | No, you may not. If you wish to have additional space contact sales to purchase additional disk space or to upgrade your Hosting Plan. | | Q. | How do I create additional e-mail accounts for my domain? | | A. | Use your browser and head to http://mailadmin.your.domain.name and log in with the provided Mail Administrator username and password. Once you are in, click on the "accounts" button and follow the instructions. | | Q. | Can my users use the mailadmin page? | | A. | Yes they can, they just do not have the same rights and permissions as the administrator. But they can create aliases for themselves, change their passwords, and set forwarding options for themselves. | | Q. | How can my users change their passwords themselves? | | A. | Have them log on to mailadmin and click on "password options". | | Q. | Can I view my mails from the web? | | A. | Yes you can, just head to http://webmail.your.domain.name. Please note that any mail not downloaded from the server will count against your mail quota. | | Q. | Why do I get "Relaying not allowed" when trying to send emails? | | A. | Our SMTP servers require our users to authenticate themselves before allowing them to use it. To authenticate yourself, either do: - POP before SMTP
- SMTP Authentication
| | Q. | Who do I contact if I believe I have been spammed by your servers? | | A. | Send an email to support@1stopweb800.com. Please include a sample of the spam email including the email headers. Include the offending email and its headers in your email. | | Q. | I am receiving duplicate mail when I retrieve my mail. What's happening? | | A. | This could be due to a broken network connection while you were downloading your mail previously. As a precaution, the mail server will save all mail downloaded during a broken connection to prevent any mail from being lost. | | Q. | When I delete a mail user, does this mean the user's mail is deleted as well? | | A. | No, this is a safety feature in case of mistakes. Before you delete a user, we suggest you empty that users mailbox first as their mail will still count against your quota even though the user no longer exists. | | Q. | I forgot to delete the users email before deleting the email account. What do I do? | | A. | Simply recreate the user account in mailadmin and log in to webmail to delete all emails. | | Q. | Can I have all the mail destined for my domain go to a single mail account? | | A. | Yes you can. Contact us and ask for a fallback account. This will send all mail destined for non-existing email users in your domain to a single account which you can define. | | Q. | I am receiving duplicate mail when I retrieve my mail. What's happening? | | A. | Yes you can, to do this, log on to mailadmin and click on "forwarding options". Be sure to read the instructions carefully. Remember you must log in as the mail user and not the Mail Administrator. | | Q. | Can I forward all emails I receive to another email account and still receive the emails? | | A. | Yes you can, be sure to click the "copy to self" button when filling in your forwarding information. | | Q. | What are aliases? | | A. | Aliases are virtual email accounts. When you create an alias all mail destined for that alias will be forwarded to your email account. Aliases must be in the form *@your.domain. | | Q. | I keep receiving email from support indicating I have exceeded the email quota for my domain, however we do check our emails regularly. What is happening? | | A. | There are several reasons for this: - A user using POP3 client software like Outlook can set it to read and download email but still store a copy of the mail on the server to be accessed in the future.
- Users use our webmail feature only, but they do not delete any emails or download it.
- Some web mail providers, like Hotmail, allow users to grab mail from our servers and still keep a copy on the server. Therefore the mail server still has a copy of mail that has been read/downloaded.
| | Q. | How do I free up these email space? | | A. | To free up your email server space, you need to educate all your users to NOT leave a copy of read mail on the server. This way, once you login into the e-mail server, you will download the emails and clear up the disk space. Normally, the leave mail on server feature is disabled in most email softwares. In Outlook Express, under Account->Properties->Advanced, there is a check box for "Leave a copy of messages on server". Please uncheck it to stop leaving mail on the server. The other option is to delete the mail through webmail. Mails deleted in webmail are removed PERMANENTLY. | | Q. | I want to transfer my existing UUCP email to 1StopWeb800.com. Is there any way to do this with minimal downtime? | | A. | Yes, you can. You will need to do the following: - Change your Technical Contact to 1StopWeb800.com. Instructions are available in the MyNIC Related Questions section of this FAQ.
- We will set up the DNS records in our name servers and put in your existing MX record.
- Once everything is ready, we will make the necessary name server changes with MyNIC.
- Upon confirmation of the name server changes, you will need to contact support@1stopweb800.com and request a fallback account. You will also need to prepare your internal email gateway to support POP downloads.
- Do a last download of your UUCP email, once that is done inform 1StopWeb800.com and we will change your DNS MX records once that is done. Please note that for this step you will have to inform us beforehand to coordinate our efforts.
| | Q. | Currently, my company is using ISDN/Dial Up to connect to my ISP to retrieve email. Only authorized users can do so. Our plan is to create an integrated internal email system flow. We need to have our staff send email out but we don't expect them to send/receive through the company ISDN line individually because we want to restrict their internet access. We need a system that can download all company email from a third-party email hosting server and redistribute them internally according to the individual email account name. | | A. | The following option is a master or catch-all account where you have one internal mail server located at your office which is not online all the time, but will retrieve mail from our mail server at set intervals using the master or catch-all account with a single login and redistribute the email locally at your office. To setup "Master/Catch all" account with 1StopWeb800.com: - Create a normal e-mail account via http://mailadmin.yourdomain.com. This will be your "Master/Catch All" Account.
- Write an email or call our support team and tell us that you need to set "Master/Catch All" account for the e-mail account that you have just created. Our support team will immediately enable this feature for your domain.
- Setup your internal mail server to meet your requirement that retrieve mail form our mail server and redistribute to your local e-mail account. Please note that Setup of your internal email server is not supported by us.
Microsoft Exchange server does not have the feature to pull mail from another e-mail server. Therefore you need to install additional software to handle this option. We have a number of successful setups by our clients with PopBeamer. Besides Microsoft Exchange with Popbeamer our clients have also informed us that they have successfully used the following software: SendMail for Unix - http://www.sendmail.org/ Merak - http://www.merakmail.com/ Mdeamon - http://www.deerfield.com/ | | | |
